Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Q: Why isn't my student able to access the assignments in Google Classroom? Usually there isn't a problem!

A: Please make sure that your student is logged in with their CHCCS username and password. A common problem is that other family members have logged into the device with their Google email. If this is the case, try signing out of all other accounts and clicking again. This may solve the problem.

Q: How does my student enter a Google Meet call?

A: Students can find and access the link only through Google Classroom. The link can be found in the banner on the main page, and as an icon on the assignments page.

Q: After clicking the Google Meet link, it says this call hasn't started yet. Is there an error with the link?

A: Google Meet will activate the link only once the teacher starts the call. This prevents students from using the link unsupervised. If you see a message like this, wait a moment and refresh the browser. The link will be activated once the teacher starts the call.

Q: My student successfully joined the call, but the audio isn't working. We can't hear each other!

A: Sometimes this happens! First, try leaving the call and rejoining using the link. Often this solves the issue. If that doesn't work, check to see if headphones/earphones are connected and working properly. Hopefully this frustrating problem is solved.

Q: Does my student have e-mail?

A: Yes, students must have an email account within the G-Suite for education so that they can have an account for Google Classroom. Students are able to access this email account from their devices with their usernames and passwords. Notifications from Google Classroom automatically are sent to their inboxes.
