EmbMasing Elementary School is located next to the Shigou Irrigation Canal, a branch of the Babao Canal—known as the "Mother River of Changhua." With a rich history of 125 years, the school also near the Yiyuan Chen Family Historic Residence, a designated Level 2 historical site. This rural elementary school consists of 9 classes and approximately 160 students. Most parents work in agriculture or small factories, and students have different levels of bilingual proficiency.
To support students different learning, the school has developed a special program called "Masing Learning Program." This program integrates the ecology of the Shigou Canal, the cultural heritage of the Chen Family Residence, the local dairy industry, and the concept of a climate-friendly, smart campus.
The school is applying for the English Village Project is based on this program. For the past seven years, Masing has run the “One Foreign Teacher per Class, Thematic Lessons Every Week” initiative. In recent years, the school has also recruited certified English teachers to enhance instruction and has participated in national programs such as the English Oral Expression and Fun Learning Project, as well as the Ministry of Education’s Summer English Camp.
These efforts aim to create an immersive English learning environment that aims students’ interest in English, enhances their linguistic and cross-cultural communication skills, and fosters a global outlook. Advanced technology, such as VR interactive experiences, is also being incorporated to allow students to learn practical English through simulated scenarios.
