Cosmetology (Grades 9-12): The Cosmetology Program is designed to prepare students to qualify and successfully complete all requirements for a Michigan Cosmetology license. Students receive training that follows the guidelines and regulations established by the Michigan Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Cosmetology Board. The course of study includes Sanitation and Safety, Professionalism and Salon Management, Sciences of Cosmetology, Professional Hair Care Skills, Professional Nail Care Skills, Professional Skin Care Skills, and Unassigned Specific Needs. Instruction in chemistry, bacteriology, anatomy, and physiology of the face, head, arms, and hands is incorporated by means of theory and practical application on both mannequins and live models.

After finishing high school, Jamie took a leap towards adventure by moving to North Carolina, where she immersed herself in the colorful world of cosmetology at the Cheveux School of Hair Design. There, her creativity blossomed as she dove into the exhilarating hustle and bustle of fashion shows and worked her magic on TV extras, bringing their characters to life with dazzling hair and makeup.
Jamie eventually returned to Michigan, ready to sprinkle her knowledge and enthusiasm back home. She carved out a thriving career in the beauty industry before becoming a key player on Charlton Heston Academy's CTE Team. Known for her flair in hair color and texture services, Jamie is also a seasoned hair color educator, tirelessly advocating for continuous learning in every branch of cosmetology.
With nearly two decades of enriching experience under her belt, Jamie is on a mission to inspire and mentor the budding stars of the next generation in the world of cosmetology, sharing her boundless love and expertise in this dynamic and ever-evolving industry.
Tabetha
Tabetha Cross is a vibrant and dedicated cosmetologist with a career spanning over a decade. Licensed in 2009, she graduated from In Sessions Cosmetology School in Saginaw, MI. Her expertise shines in advanced skin care and body waxing, further enhanced by training in medical aesthetics, including peels and assistance with fillers and Botox.
Tabetha's entrepreneurial journey saw her open Shangri-La Spa & Wellness Studio in Lansing, MI, a boutique known for its expert waxing and skincare from 2013 to 2021. Now a passionate educator at Charlton Heston Academy since 2021, she has led students to the SkillsUSA State Competition for three consecutive years. Honored in 2024 as one of Roscommon County’s 40 Under 40 Rising Leaders, her impact on the community is profound.
Her love for public speaking and community outreach underpins her commitment to making a difference, both in the beauty industry and beyond.
