My name is Elaine Liu, and I love engineering. I love to make things. After all, being able to make whatever I want without worrying about anything else is liberating. I love the prospect of engineering that it is possible to make new tools and give others the opportunity to thrive.
In ninth grade, I tried programming and instantly loved it. It's only natural that I tried engineering next. Engineering, to me, means the ability to use the opportunities and resources that I have to help make this world a better place. Otherwise, I feel that there is no point of having them. I also get worked up about certain topics like climate change and gun violence, so I would love to use engineering to do something about the issues that are seriously affecting my generation.
What else to I like to do? I love painting, debating, and staying current with the news. I have been painting since forever, and I find it fun and empowering to be able to learn (in detail) about something new that affects our daily lives and talk about it.
I have been adding on to this digital portfolio since 10th grade, and it shows my personal growth throughout my engineering high school career.
