1Writing in Engineering

I have always been fixated on furthering my knowledge despite the complexity or category of subject. I spend family dinners conversing with my parents on controversial and informational topics regarding their professions (psychologist and chiropractor). I have spent the past decade of my life as a competitive equestrian and learned that an one-on-one teacher-student environment allows me to better understand content and material. Additionally, being in settings that allow me to focus in the way that suits me best on that particular day is crucial to my success. I find motivation in setting myself up well for the future and building an impressive repertoire of skills. I believe that the Engineering Design Methods course will allow me to become an even more skillful and unique individual. In particular, I am excited to explore making projects that have a bigger impact than just creating momentary enjoyment for myself.

An item that I designed and built that I am notably proud of is my ‘Among Us’ themed shadow box. I chose to make this build because it was a funny and effective way for me to feel an extra level of determination to perfectly complete the project. I first started the project by using CorrelDraw to trace images of Among Us characters and logo and an image of flames to create the first three layers of the shadow box. I faced problems with the Among Us men because they were unstable due to too few points of contact with the edge. To overcome this issue, I altered the tracing by connecting the men by their backpacks and goggles. I faced a similar problem with the Among Us logo and provided the necessary points of contact by connecting the words and edge with a thin line at the bottom of the letters.
