Legally Blonde
The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present Legally Blonde August 2-4 & 9-11, 2024 at the Charleston Coliseum Theater.
Legally Blonde has music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hash. The story is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name which starred Reese Witherspoon. The musical premiered in 2007 with pre-Broadway tryouts in San Francisco. In April 2007 the show moved to Broadway's Palace Theatre with Laura Belle Bundy starring as Elle Woods. The London West End production opened in 2010. The musical received seven Tony nominations and won three Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.
Sorority girl Elle Woods doesn't take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. She hopes to win back her ex-boyfriend and along the way, she discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others. She defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndam in a murder trial and proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style! This show is an energetic funfest with contagious music and a girl in pink that leaves a smile on your face. Charleston Light Opera Guild previously presented Legally Blonde during the summer of 2012.
