Did you know that you can enter why your child is absent right in the parent portal? For any parent notes or explanations, you simply type it right into the portal and the data clerk can view it and code attendance.
*Note: Medical notes from physicians still need to be turned in in the front office.
Login to your parent portal. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu on the left side, choose attendance monitor. Choose report new attendance. Type in your reason and the dates, then hit submit.
Parent Attendance Meeting Q & A
Have questions about attendance, truancy, or chronic absenteeism? We have answers! Please RSVP here to attend a meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 9 AM in the media center.
Throughout the year, we offer 5 different dates that we have clubs during the school day. Students will be selecting a club in the next couple of weeks. (They get 3 choices and will be placed in one of the three.) Each teacher sponsors a club. We have created a wishlist (still adding items) that parents can use to donate to a club. If you wish to donate, please click this link.
Please plan family travel during scheduled school breaks to maximize instructional time and support student attendance. Regular attendance supports student success. Every Day Counts!
STEM Saturday Academy:
Registration for these sessions typically requires reserving a spot via the official SC State 1890 Coastal Extension Facebook Page
The Charleston Learning Center is pleased to offer two new workshops designed for Middle School parents - AI for Middle School Students and Everyday STEM Saturday. Both these classes will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Please note there is an attendance limit of 25 and 10 students respectively for these two classes.
I would be most appreciative if you would share this with your parents. As you may know, Charleston Digital is committed to offering unique and affordable classes and workshops to help students level up and understand how to use AI responsibly.
