Cario Middle School Library

Mission Statement: CCSD School Library Programs provide equitable access to diverse, current, and relevant materials. We empower students to discover, create, and expand their understanding of the world in an open and welcoming environment. We support all school and community stakeholders through collaborating, teaching, and removing barriers to learning.

CCPL Summer Reading

Thanks to CCPL and CCSD's partnership, you are already registered for CCPL's summer reading program. Just log in with your school username (include capital letters, unlike at school) and use that as your password, too. Log to win cool prizes!

Recommended Reading

While there is no required summer reading at Cario, you just might want some suggested titles, right? Check out any of these books on the SCASL Junior Book Award Nominees List. There is something for everyone, and you really can't go wrong. Read three titles and you can vote for your favorite in March!

DYSTOPIAN SUMMER: A Trilogy of Trilogies

Our very own Drama teacher, Mr. Pickens, runs a virtual book club each summer, just because he LOVES to read. Check out his informational flyer HERE and join the Google Classroom set up just for this! Contact Mr. Pickens at derek_pickens@charleston.k12.sc.us for more information.

Meet the Teacher-Librarian

Ms. Jennifer Gómez

Welcome to my new-to-me library. This is my 17th year as a teacher, but my first year in the library. I love reading and I love working with middle school students. In a former life, I was a Spanish teacher here at Cario - and before that (picture proof) - a middle school student!

Please stop by my biblioteca anytime!
