Year 6 Play - All the World's A Stage!

Congratulations to all the Year 6 children, Mrs Belcher and Miss Sharp on a fantastic performance of All the World's a Stage.  We were all thoroughly entertained with this brilliantly hilarious Shakespearean musical written by our very own Mrs Belcher. We watched as William Shakespeare made his way to London in an attempt to make his fame and fortune as a playwright. We were then witness to three (short) versions of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth. Queen Elizabeth I even made an appearance! The children were full of energy and enthusiasm, even in the scorching June heat, and gave four thoroughly professional performances to the school and their families. What an array of talent!

Year 2 visit the Oxford Story Museum

Before half term, Year 2 had an ‘Extraordinary Day of Delight’ experience at the Oxford Story Museum. The children were able to use their vivid imaginations in a ‘Story Portals’ drama workshop, choosing an object to transport them to another world. Narnia, Wonderland and Hundred Acre Wood were explored in the museum gallery tour and everyone was captivated by the oral storytelling from our guide. On a walk around Oxford city centre, we played games and discovered significant historical landmarks linked to Alice in Wonderland and Lewis Caroll. A fantastic time was had by all!

Year 4 Castle Building Project

Over the holidays, the Year 4 pupils were asked to create a model of a castle to link to their History topic. The mezzanine by the fireplace was filled with an amazing display of concentric and motte and bailey castles. A huge amount of effort had gone it to creating these fantastic models and it was very difficult to choose a winner.

Congratulations to all our winners!

Pre-Prep and Early Years enjoy the Perform Drama Workshop

The children in Early Years and Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a visit from Peter Pan courtesy of a talented performer, Luna, from the Drama Company Perform. ‘Peter’ introduced the children to the other characters in the story and took them on an adventure to Neverland. Whilst there, they met the diabolical Captain Hook and had to thwart his plans to escape with the treasure. The children were totally captivated by the activities and Luna was particularly impressed by the children’s energy and enthusiasm.

Year 3 and Year 4 take part in an International Maths Challenge Competition

This term Year 3 and Year 4 took part in the First Maths Challenge. The challenge is an international competition organised by the Mathematical Association who also run the Primary Maths Challenge that we do with selected Year 5 and Year 6. The children had to complete 20 multiple choice questions which started with easy questions which gradually got harder throughout the challenge. The questions encouraged the children to think outside the box and approach problems in a logical manner.

The results were announced by Mrs Gandy in assembly and they achieved 15 Gold Awards, 25 Silver and 24 Bronze.  Congratulations to all the children but in particular to Isaac A who managed to get every single question correct and received a Full Marks Award which is fantastic.

Year 3 curate their own Mini-Museums

Year 3 had great fun sharing their Mini-Museums. It was a real treat to see the effort and enthusiasm which went into curating each and every project. It really felt like a trip to a museum! There was a diverse range of topics covered including the Cubs, Rocks and Gems, Camping, Harry Potter, Medicinal Plants and Horse Riding. The children stood up and presented their museum giving us many facts and interesting things to think about. We had lots of special people visit the museums including the Year 2 children who came to see what they have to look forward to next year.
