We had the privilege of speaking with the incredible Paralympian, Karen Darke, last week. Karen shared her powerful experiences of overcoming challenges and exceeding obstacles. We had a great celebration of World Book Day. Our staff members and wonderful children came together in the most creative costumes, making this day full of fun, excitement and laughter. Our poetry festival was a big hit. The children showed such courage in reciting their poems. They did so with enthusiasm and zest.
Reception pupils had a wonderful time at Roves Farm last week. They enjoyed a tractor ride, petting all the farm animals and feeding them too. Our annual pancake day races also took place. From expert flips to pancake flops, there was plenty of laughter, cheering and competitive spirit.
Last week we had a visit from Emma Carlisle, who is a well-known author & illustrator. She read from her beautiful new book, A Home Is a Nest, and signed copies for our children.
We hope you enjoy looking at these pictures.
Best wishes,
Fiona Love
Our Reception pupils had a wonderful time at Roves Farm this week. They enjoyed a super fun but bumpy tractor ride from Farmer Ricky. Whilst on their tractor journey our little explorers spotted birds, deer and even some pigs having their morning nap.
They then ventured into the woods to build some cozy mouse houses using all the materials that nature had to offer.
After lunch, it was time to get hands on with all of the animals. They fed goats, petted lambs, made new bunny friends and snuggled with baby piglets. What an unforgettable day on the farm for our Reception pupils.
Our Year 2’s had a sizzling time during their outdoor learning with Mr Foster last week, as they explored their fire themed topic. They learnt how to build a fire, all about fire safety and then enjoyed eating their delicious roasted marshmallows around the campfire.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to connect classroom lessons with real world experiences and of course enjoy some tasty treats.
Back in the classroom, the fire theme continues. Our Year 2's are exploring the Great Fire of London, writing poetry and drawing their own mythical animal. In their art lessons, they will unleash their creativity by drawing magnificent dragons. Fire wielding, of course!
Last week at Chandlings, we had the amazing author and illustrator, Emma Carlisle, visit our school.
She read from her beautiful new book, A home Is a Nest. She also signed copies for our pupils and even treated us all to a live drawing.
The children loved every moment and were absolutely inspired.
What an amazing World Book Day we had! Our staff members and wonderful children came together in the most creative costumes, making this day full of fun, excitement and many laughs.
We had teachers transformed into crayons, food from the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Colourful Monsters, Tin Man, A Scarecrow, Fantastic Mr Fox and there might have been a Wicked! appearance.
Meanwhile our children were embracing their incredible outfits too. From The Gruffalo, to Peter Pan, The Baker Boy, Stick Man, BFG and more. Every costume was a story that came to life.
Well done to everyone for making this day so special. Creating lasting memories is what we love to do at Chandlings.
Fun and excitement was felt all round on pancake day.
We all had a great time at our annual house pancake day races. From expert flips to some pancake flops, there was plenty of laughter, cheering and competitive spirit all around.
Well done to all of our pupils and especially to those who managed to keep their pancakes in the pan.
Until next year… keep practicing those flips and remember, it is all in the wrist.
One performer from each class took to the stage last week to recite their winning poem in front of pupils and parents. We laughed, ‘awed’ and applauded the brilliant performers from Reception to Year 6. We were also treated to a beautiful piano recital by a Year 5 pupil as everyone arrived.
Mrs Belcher also spoke about what it means to learn a poem off by heart. It takes courage to stand up in front of others and share something, and we congratulate you for doing just that.
We hope everyone in the school remembers their poem from this year, forever.
Chandlings had the privilege of speaking with the incredible Paralympian, Karen Darke, last week.
Her journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of mindset. Karen shared her powerful experiences overcoming challenges and exceeding incredible obstacles, reminding us that every stumbling block is an opportunity for growth.
It was a truly inspiring conversation that left us reflecting on how we can all approach life with courage and positivity.
“See life as a giant adventure, to learn and grow with, and seek the gifts that hide within the challenge.” - Karen Darke
