Step into the latest edition of the Fort-Knightly News, where we showcase the exciting events and adventures that have taken place across Chandlings Prep.
Our children have had some exciting adventures recently. Year 3 students had an unforgettable experience during their recent trip to the Corinium Museum in the historic town of Cirencester. The visit was an exciting opportunity to step back in time and learn about the fascinating world of the Romans. Sulgrave Manor & Gardens was the location for our Year 5 students. Their day was filled with history, discovery, and lots of fun. 'Dress To Express' is a highly anticipated day in the school calendar. It's always fun to see how the children like to express themselves. Personalities shine through. Also, our little ones in the Nursery were treated to a visit from some parent vets and had a wonderful time putting bandages on their teddies.
In addition, PATCH parents hosted a really popular hot chocolate stand. A fantastic amount of money was raised for our chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House.
Finally, our blackboard saw lots of lovely affirmations of bravery. We are always so proud of our children, and reading how they have shown bravery & courage is always heartwarming.
We hope you enjoy looking at these pictures.
Best wishes,
Fiona Love
A BIG thank you to our amazing parent vets who visited our Nursery classes and spent time with our children.
The little ones had a blast learning about the world of veterinary care and practiced bandaging stuffed animals. The parents were so engaging and interactive, and their passion for animals truly shone through.
The smiles and excitement amongst the children were contagious, and we're sure we’ve sparked a few dreams of becoming vets!
Clothes are a fun way to show who you are!
What you wear can say a lot about your personality, your mood, and the things you like. Whether you choose to wear your favorite superhero shirt, a colourful dress, or comfy jeans, your clothes are like a big smile that helps others see a little bit of you.
We loved seeing how our children expressed themselves through their choice of outfit. It was a fun, bright & colourful day at Chandlings!
Our Year 5 students recently visited Sulgrave Manor & Garden, the home of George Washington’s English ancestors. It was an exciting day filled with history and discovery as the children explored the beautiful gardens and learnt about the Manor’s fascinating past.
The students had the chance to dress in costumes and tried writing with a quill pen, offering a fun, hands on experience of life in George Washington’s time. The day was filled with laughter, learning, and lots of fun!
A huge thank you to all the teachers and staff who made this trip a success.
We’re looking forward to more adventures like this in the future!
Our wonderful PATCH parents hosted a Hot Chocolate Stand last week at the car park gate. Our extremely creative student council children designed wonderful posters for the occasion. I'm sure you saw them around the school.
Nothing for the event went unturned, and a 50p discount was even offered to those who brought in their own reusable cups. Being kind to the earth is a priority to us at Chandlings!
Parents & Students had a choice of either a flake, whipped cream, or marshmallows - many ended up with all 3!
We are proud to say that £503.42 was raised for our chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House. A MASSIVE thank you to Mrs Bott for all your efforts and all our other wonderful PATCH parents for your contributions.
Our Year 3 students had an unforgettable experience during their recent trip to the Corinium Museum in the historic town of Cirencester. The visit was an exciting opportunity to step back in time and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the Romans.
The students explored a wide range of real artifacts, including intricate Roman mosaics, ancient tools, and everyday items that provided a window into the past. They even had the chance to dress up in Roman clothing, giving them a real sense of what life might have been like in ancient Cirencester, known in Roman times as Corinium.
From learning about Roman architecture to discovering how the Romans lived, worked, and entertained themselves, the trip helped bring history to life. It was a truly enriching experience that connected classroom learning with real world history.
A special thank you to the teachers and staff members who accompanied the students and ensured the trip was a success.
This visit was an incredible way for our students to connect with the past and gain a deeper understanding of the Roman influence on our history, culture, and even our local community. We look forward to more exciting educational adventures in the future!
We are always so very proud of our wonderful students who show the values of Chandlings.
This half term was no different, and our blackboard was filled with many wonderful examples of our students showing bravery. There was also a special mention of bravery aimed at our wonderful staff who partook in the staff panto.
