Nativities

Our school Christmas nativities are always so magical, creating a wonderful chaos of tiny angels, shepherds, camels and even a hedgehog this year! They brought a fantastic mix of holiday cheer creating unforgettable moments from woodland animals baking a very special cake and snowflakes falling just in time to welcome Mary and Joseph to the stable in Bethlehem. The parents enjoyed every magical minute and each performance gave the children a chance to shine as mini superstars on the festive stage.

Gifts for Grown ups

Thank you to PATCH and the all parents and staff who helped organise one of the most loved events at Chandlings Prep! There were lots of preparations prior to the day, by filling mugs, wrapping gifts and tying ribbon. The day was as merry as one can get! Music, lights, beautiful gifts to choose from, all contributing to a wonderful and memorable day for the children and some surprises for whoever will be receiving the gifts!

Christmas Ensemble Soirée

The Chandlings Prep Ensemble Soirée was a delightful evening, showcasing the hard work of ensembles across the term. The talented performers, ranging from budding instrumentalists to charming vocalists, captivated the audience. The evening began in true Christmas spirit with a wonderful rendition of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas played by the guitar ensemble. This was followed by a highly skilled piano quartet and the choral speaking group performing the hilarious Strict by Michael Rosen. Junior and Senior Ukuleles entertained us with traditional and contemporary songs whilst the String Orchestra and Woodwind Ensemble delighted the audience with two carols. The evening drew to a close with a dramatic performance by the Orchestra with Adele’s Skyfall and finally all the musicians came together with Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone. The event's diverse repertoire and the students' enthusiasm reflected the school's commitment to fostering a love for the arts.

Christmas Celebration Afternoon

The tradition of Christmas Celebrations is always a magical and exciting time at Chandlings Prep and this year did not disappoint. The prep children had a crazy time in the main hall with their house competitions which included; building and decorating a Christmas tree; wrapping as many boxes as possible; designing a Christmassy jumper and building (out of playdough) a Christmas scene. The pre-prep children enjoyed parading around the hall afterwards seeing all the creations.

Throughout the day each year group enjoyed singing carols around the fire and Christmas tree. This culminated in a snow flurry outside and a visit from a certain bearded person, arriving on his festive buggy, dressed in red and white!  As you can imagine there was huge excitement and it was a fantastic way to finish off the
term.

Prep Carol Service at Radley College

Our Christmas service in Radley College chapel is always a magical occasion with the Festival of Nine lessons and beautiful carol singing. We began in darkness which created a wonderful atmosphere as Esme B. and Rio T. sang Once in Royal David’s City. The lessons were read by staff including one of our former Heads, John Walker, and pupils.  Our Junior and Senior choirs and Chamber choirs gave beautiful renditions of This Christmas Gift, Maracas at the Manger, Beneath the Stars and Unto Us. It was a wonderful way to end the Autumn Term and we were delighted to be joined by parents, trustees and Prep School Trust staff.

PATCH Carol Singing

The PATCH carol singing took place under a starry sky in the Lantern Hall. The tone was set with the piano in the middle covered in candles creating a wonderful ambience. Traditional carols and new jolly songs were sung by parents and children.  A big thankyou to all involved particularly Mrs Biggs, Miss Sharp and Mrs Belcher. It was a very festive occasion.
