Odd Socks Day

As part of anti bullying week we all wore odd socks to remind us that we are all unique and that we should be proud of our differences and accepting of everyone else's.

Nursery Space Day

Nursery have been really enjoying their space theme this term especially singing their song 'There are 8 Planets in the Solar System.'

Outdoor Learning - Human Nature Skeleton

Outdoor Learning - Year 1 Measuring

Year 1 children were able to use their maths knowledge to measure leaves. They also identified leaves and recognised that each tree has its own unique leaves just like humans who also have their own unique characteristics.

Year 2's First Tag Rugby and Hockey Match against St Hugh's

What an exciting day for Year 2 as they all climbed onto the bus ready for their first rugby and hockey matches against another school. They began with a skill session followed by a round robin of mini-matches. They all really enjoyed their first taste of competition against St Hugh's and it was great to see so many parents on the touchline supporting Chandlings.

4H Assembly - Kindness

On the final day of Anti-Bullying Week, 4H presented their assembly to the school community. The children reminded us how important it is to celebrate our uniqueness and what makes us all special. They used the book, 'Be Kind' by Pat Zietlow Miller, to tell the story of how little acts of kindness can make a huge difference. 4H had fun hiding 'random acts of kindness' cards around the school and then challenging the audience to see if they could find any and spread some kindness throughout Chandlings.

House Singing Competition

It was the second year for our House Singing competition and children and staff alike were all very excited. Each house chose a song and then spent many weeks rehearsing adding moves, harmony and working on their diction and tuning. All 3 houses put on some great performances and the judges had a hard job deciding the winner. Have a listen below and see if you think they made the right choice!

House Matches

As always the house rugby and hockey matches were a competitive affair all the more so with some fantastic support from the Chandlings parents who were cheering from the side lines!  We managed to sneak in the matches during the break in the weather and all the boys and girls played to the best of their ability and there was great camaradarie amongst the houses. The final results were Astley taking home the cup for rugby and Poltimore won the girls' hockey.

Informal Music Concerts - Year 1 & 2 and Year 5

4V Assembly - Stone Soup!

4Vs assembly was based on the french folk tale Stone Soup. Their interpretation involved three Chandlings children who outwit the greedy inhabitants of a village into providing them with a delicious soup. The message they wanted to deliver was about the nature of happiness and the value of sharing and cooperation which are both part of our Chandlings Values.
