Class Pairs

Class Pairs is a special event, where the older and younger children play together in order to build relationships throughout the school and not just in their year group. It links to our Wellbeing focus this half term which is My Relationships.

Year 1 Trip to Oxford History Museum

As part of their topic on dinosaurs Year 1 enjoyed an exciting trip to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

Author Mini Grey tells Year 1 and Year 2 about "The Greatest Show on Earth"

What a fantastic afternoon Year 1 and Year 2 had with a visit from the award-winning author and illustrator Mini Grey introducing her first non-fiction book ‘The Greatest Show on Earth.  Mini gave us an interactive show all about how the earth began continuing up to the present day.  She followed this with a cartoon drawing workshop and finished with her rabbit Cadabra mesmerising the children!

Year 2 Trip to Millets Farm Falcon Experience

Year 2 had a fabulous day learning new facts about a range of birds of prey. They also enjoyed the opportunity to handle a red kite and watch a flying display.

RE Reflect Outdoors

Every class in the school has gone out to enjoy nature and think about the things they are thankful for. Each class is creating a collage of thankfulness as their contribution to the Harvest Celebration.

We are thankful for all the donations we have received!

Prep Art

Year 3 have been experimenting with paper collage techniques using contrasting colours to create beautiful cupcake illustrations.

Year 4 have created woodland faerie figures using natural found materials from the school grounds.

Year 5 have been working on magazine collage scenes based on the work of the American artist Romare Bearden

Year 6 have been studying Land Art and creating artworks inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy, Richard Long and Rebecca Louise Law. Using natural found materials from the school grounds.

Year 4 Informal Music Concert

The 10th October saw the start of the  Chandlings Prep annual informal concerts with fifteen Year 4 students performing in the Lantern Hall. These informal concerts are a wonderful opportunity for the children to show what they have been learning within their one to one lessons either in or outside of school. This was for many, their premiere performance on their instrument, in front of a supportive audience of family, friends and staff. We enjoyed renditions of We Will Rock You, Edelweiss and God Save the King.

Year 5 and Year 6 Itza Challenge - Digital Learning

Year 5 and 6 have been taking part in the WWF Wild Wisdom Global Challenge on www.itza.io . The children have been using their Chromebooks to learn about 'Big Cats' through immersive, engaging content. As they go through the information and complete challenges, they earn themselves yakka points and compete for Chandlings Prep School. The challenge runs until the 21st October and we will let you know where Chandlings place in the leaderboard.
