Based in the front Reception area, these members of staff will be able to help with medical and attendance concerns.

Parents can either leave a voicemail for a member of staff or email admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk, where their query will be directed to the relevant member of staff in confidence.
The school takes safeguarding of the students extremely seriously and follows strict Trust and County guidelines with regard to safeguarding and Child Protection. Any cause for concern will be dealt with in line with our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Good attendance is crucial to academic success and parents are legally required to ensure that their children attend school regularly. Nothing undermines a student’s educational progress more than frequent absences. The school expects the co-operation of parents in maintaining the regular attendance of students at school.
We expect all students to aim for 100% attendance. Annual attendance that falls below 97% is considered a cause for concern and will require further explanation and monitoring. A child’s illness should normally be the only reason for absence.
Parents/carers must report a child's absence by telephoning the school leaving a message on the absence line (option 1) or you can email in to admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk. The school will need to know the nature of the illness and your child’s full name and year group.
If a student is absent and the school has not been informed, a text message will be sent to the parent/carer. Please ensure you reply to this message, call the school or email in with the details of the absence. If a student is absent for more than three days, and no reliable information has been received, an official enquiry letter will be sent to parent/carer and this may be followed by a visit from the Attendance Improvement Officer.
It is important that students develop good habits and are punctual to school. Those arriving after registration must report to the school office to be registered. Students who arrive late will be given a lunchtime detention.
Family holidays should not be arranged in term time. The school will not authorise any family holidays during term time. If holidays are taken during term time, following County guidelines, parents will be issued with a fine.
With regards absences due to religious reasons, please send anemail to the Attendance Officer at admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk as early as possible beforehand giving dates and reasons for the absence.
It is illegal for any child under the age of 13 years to be employed in any capacity. Students aged 13 or over wishing to do part-time work before compulsory school leaving age must obtain an employment card (work permit). Application forms for employment cards are obtainable from Hertfordshire County Council.
It is important that the school is aware of any allergies or medical problems concerning your child. Please ensure you have fully completed any Medical Information on the Arbor Parent Portal. If your child has more complex medical needs, please email the school at admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk to arrange a phone call to discuss your child's needs in detail.
These should be arranged out of school time. When this is unavoidable, the students should bring the appointment card or a note from their parent/carer. If you need to collect your child for an appointment during the school day, please ensure your child knows to come to Reception at the correct time to be collected. Parents/carers will need to come into Reception to collect your child and sign out, we cannot allow students to leave the school premises during the school day without being collected and signed out from Reception. Medical/dental appointments are usually only authorised for half a day.
Where students are taken ill or have an accident in school, they will be attended to by a member of staff who is a qualified First Aider. If the student needs to go home or requires hospital treatment, parents will be contacted to come and collect their child. The responsibility for arranging transport in such circumstances rests with the parent/carer and not with the school. In an emergency, the school will arrange transport to hospital by ambulance or otherwise and parents/carers will be contacted to meet their child there.
It is essential that the school’s record of emergency contact numbers for parents/carers and medical information is always kept up-to-date. It is vital we have at least TWO emergency contacts on record. When parents/carers change address or home, work or mobile telephone numbers these must be updated via Arbor Parent Portal immediately.
In accordance with current Health and Safety requirements, the school staff can supervise prescribed and some non-prescribed medication as long we have written consent and also the Parental Agreement form has been completed.
* All prescribed medicines that need to be taken during the school day should be handed in at the school office, clearly named and a parental agreement form must be completed.
* Medicines must be in the original container as dispensed by the pharmacy. Only full packets of tablets in the original container with leaflets enclosed will be accepted.
We have students coming to medical each day for headaches or hayfever and require medication. Therefore if you are happy for the school to administer these types of medication to your child in these situations please consent via the online consent on the Arbor Parent Portal.
If you decide to consent to this and your child comes to medical, we will:
Assess if their concern
If the medical assistant and your child feel that paracetamol or an antihistamine will ease their issue, we will then:
Check with your child they have not already been given this medication at home prior to attending school (if they have received medication at home we will check with them when and evaluate if they can have another dose, according to the dosage instructions on the box).
We will provide your child with the appropriate dosage, according to the dosage instructions on the box (please state on Arbor ‘Notes’ section within the consent box, if your child needs a different dosage than the instructions advise).
We will then log the date/time/dose for our records
If you choose to give consent – please supply the school with a box of the tablets (paracetamol, Ibuprofen or antihistamine) to give to your child when needed.
If you decide NOT to consent – please decline consent via the Arbor parent portal.
Rewards and sanctions can be issued in each lesson as required by all staff. You can review your child’s reward and behaviour points on the Arbor app.
