Traditional First Opponent - Wamego

Before Wamego became a much larger school than Council Grove, Wamego and Council Grove played annually to open the season almost every year from 1944-1979. The two even played in the same league (Jayhawk League) in the mid 1940s. Today, multiple classifications separate the two schools - making it unlikely they meet again anytime soon on the gridiron.
