Rod is the 7th all-time leading tackler for the Braves and had the 8th most in a season in 1966. Rod dominated on the line on both sides of the ball in the mid-60s for Council Grove. For his 1966 efforts he became only the 3rd offensive lineman for the Braves in school history to receive First Team All-State honors.


"The defensive standout for Council Grove this fall, not only earned All-state grid honors, but he received more votes than any other class A, B, or BB interior lineman in Kansas.

Barnes, who was a unanimous All-CVL selection, scored defensive points this fall. He made 75 solo tackles, 70 assisted tackles, recovered four fumbles, intercepted two passes, and deflected one pass.

The senior was the defensive leader in seven of Council Grove's nine grid contests."
