NICK ALLEN - C/O 1987

RB/LB/DB

Allen is one of the many 1980s Braves players that stood out for their individual success. He earned a starting spot halfway through his sophomore season in 1984. At the time, it was rare for a sophomore to see the field much for Council Grove. That season, he compiled 443 rushing yards, 4 rushing TDs. He had his first 100-yard rushing game during this season.

The season of 1985 was when Allen truly burst onto the scene offensively and defensively. Defensively he earned All-State honors playing the position of Rover for the Braves. This made Allen only the 3rd player in school history to receive First Team All-State honors in their junior season. Allen is one of only four Braves to be a  2-way first team or honorable mention all-stater. One could argue he deserved First Team All-State honors on both sides of the ball for his junior season as he compiled the following statistics:

These statistics were among some of the best in the 4A classification that season.

Following this impressive season, his senior year he battled numerous injuries. Allen overcame the obstacles and still earned First Team All-CVL Back, HM All-State 4A, and the John Goff Award. Allen was the epitome of a Goff Award winner - inspirational and determined through adversity. Through injury he compiled the following statistics:

Nick finished his career as one of the most athletic players to ever step on the gridiron for the Braves. He was a 300 Hurdle State Champion, and he transitioned that athleticism seamlessly onto the football field. Coach Joe Buchanan called Allen maybe the fastest Brave in pads ever and mentioned how hard of a hitter he was as well. He goes down as one of the best all-around players to ever play for the Braves.
