LARRY BOYCE - C/O 1966
FB/DE
Larry Boyce was one of the greatest players to wear a Braves uniform in the 1960s, and also one of the best fullbacks of all time at Council Grove. He is one of the few fullbacks to appear on Council Grove's school record boards as he finished with the 8th most rushing yards, 10th most career yards from scrimmage, and the 11th most rushing TDs. At his time of graduation, he was top 5 in every major rushing statistic.
Larry Boyce Career Rushing Stats:
1,913 Rushing Yards
20 Rushing TDs
In 1965, Larry became the 3rd Brave to ever earn HM High School All-American honors (The Coach and Athlete Magazine). Boyce didn't only play the part of a star football player, he looked it. Although he wasn't gifted with height, he was a 190-lb. wrecking ball that possessed rare raw strength for his time (see the below picture).
Accolades:
Defensive MVP Spring Game - Kansas State (1967)
HM HS All-American The Coach and Athlete Magazine (1966)
HM All-State Kansas FB (1965)
D1 Player - Kansas State
Following his wildly successful high school career, Boyce went on the play at Kansas State University. At Kansas State he played defensive end, primarily, before he suffered an injury that ended his playing career.
