HAROLD HAUN - DWIGHT C/O 1958

HB/DB

The holder of every major total yardage and TD/scoring 6/8-man statistic at USD 417 is Harold Haun. A special talent, who was the only 6/8-man future Division 1 player in district history. His special high school career earned him a scholarship to play both football and baseball at Kansas State University.

Haun at Kansas State

At K-State, Haun battled injury, but still played a meaningful role for the Wildcats. He played every year collegiately for them and split time at both the position of HB and QB. He even shows up in "Sports Reference" for his statistics during the 1960 season.

Haun was vastly underrated at the state level during his career, likely due to the fact that he was not an 11-man football player. In the 1957 season, he led all of Kansas High School Football in total TDs and scoring. Harold did this by a wide margin.

He was a key part of the Rockets going undefeated in 1957. They dominated every opponent they played. See his year-by-year stats below (some estimation in yardage).

Senior Season (1957)

1,204 rushing yards, 90 receiving yards, 75 passing yards, 320 return yards, 32 total TDs, 187 points.

At USD 417, whether it is 6-man, 8-man, or 11-man, no player has as many total TDs, rushing TDs, or points as Harold Haun. In USD 417 history he had the 2nd most rushing yards, 3rd most all-purpose yards, 3rd most scrimmage yards, and 4th most total offense. No player in USD 417 history has had as many ypc in a season as Harold did in 1957 (14.1).
