GARY OSBORN - C/O 1958

QB

Gary Osborn was the best rushing threat to ever play the quarterback position for the Braves at his time of graduation. Osborn was a talented sprinter on the track, and he translated it well to the game of football. His 1957 season was special as he earned HS All-American status and also Second Team All-State/Top 40 honors in all the state of Kansas. That year, Osborn and Mike Casey became the first CG players to earn HS All-American honors. Even more impressive, they earned it from a highly respected national publication, Sporting News Magazine.

"Osborn, although a quarterback, is known chiefly for his running ability rather than his passing promers."

-Council Grove Republican circa 1957

He broke the school rushing record during his senior season with 1,235 yards. Also, he earned the most Total TDs and Rushing TDs in a single season that year. Osborn's record of 20 Rushing TDs in a single year is still tied for most in school history today. Below you can see his complete statistics from his senior season.

Gary's most impressive individual performance came in the 1957 Cottonwood Falls game. That game he scored 32 points (2nd Most in School History at the Time), rushed for 206 yards on 21 carries, and had 6 Total TDs.
