DICK PICKETT - C/O 1950

C/LB

Dick was a strong, physical force for the Braves in the late 1940s. He started at center and led some of the best rushing teams, statistically, in school history his junior and senior seasons.

In his junior season, the Braves earned their first official Cottonwood Valley League title ever. Pickett was a 2-way starter for that team.

Pickett became one of only 29 players in school history to receive All-Kansas honors or better for his senior football season (1949). He and teammate Willis Skinner were the leaders of the 1949 squad. In his final game as a Brave, he returned an interception 31 yards that helped defeat heated rival Herington.

Following Pickett's highly successful football career for Council Grove, he played for the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
