J.W. Truesdale

1910-1912
Coach Trusdale led Council Grove to their only claimed State title in football during the 1910 season. This was less than two decades after the start of the program.

E.R. Sonnenberg

1921-1926
Coach Sonnenberg finished his career with 34 wins and later became the Superintendent. He was a prominent figure in the Braves move to join the Cottonwood Valley League in football. In his 6 seasons as the Braves head coach, his teams won 68% of their games.

Fred Roseman

1948-1950
Coach Roseman only coached the Braves for 3 years, but amassed only 3 losses during this period. He led the Braves to the Cottonwood Valley League title in 1948. His 1950 has the most wins by a CG team in school history (9).  Roseman played tackle at D1 Tulane University in New Orleans prior to being the Braves head coach.

Roy Bonar

Est. 1920s-1950s
Coach Bonar was the winningest coach in Alta Vista history. He had at least 2 League Titles as their head coach and likely more. Proof of this is currently missing.

Andy Carrier

1957-1960
Coach Carrier led the Braves to 4 straight winning seasons in the late 50s and early 60s. As the leader of the Braves, his teams won 72.2% of their games. His 1959 team lost only 1 game and had the most electric run game in school history.

Norton Hartsook

Dwight 1954-1957
Coach Hartsook finished his career with a 22-9 at Dwight. He coached the Rockets to an undefeated season in 1957.

Ralph Rindt

Dwight 1962-1966
Coach Rindt finished his career with 38 wins to only 1 loss.  Under his lead, the Rockets won a state title in 1966 and 4 Central League Conference titles. Ralph Rindt accumulated a staggering 4 undefeated seasons in a span of 5 years. This included a 29-game win streak. His 1965 team still holds the official Kansas High School Football Record for most TDs in a game (15) against Elsmore. This was in the de facto State Champioship game. Rindt also led the Dwight Basketball program to 2 state titles in the 1960s.

John Goff

Wilsey 1958-1963Council Grove 1967-1970
Coach Goff finished his career with 35 wins between his time at Wilsey and Council Grove. He led the Wilsey Wildcats to a League title in 1960 and the Braves to Cottonwood Valley League titles in 1969 and 1970. The John Goff Most Inspirational Athlete is awarded in his honor every year.

Darrell Harkness

1971-1977
Coach Harkness led the Braves to two Cottonwood Valley League Titles and the Braves first KSHSAA playoff appearance ever in 1974. He was also an assistant for John Goff from 1967-1970 and Joe Buchanan from 1978-1989. In total he was a part of 98 victories as a coach of the Braves.

Joe Buchanan

1978-1989(1990-2013 as Assistant)
Coach Buchanan finished his career with 51 wins, which is the most in school history. He was a part of an additional 67 wins as an assistant for the Braves. The Braves won at least a share of 4 Cottonwood Valley League Titles, 1 District Championship, and had 1 Bi-District Runner-Up finish under Buchanan. As an assistant, he was a part of 3 Playoff Berths, 1 District Title, and a League Title.
