Student take the 5th Grade Typing Test before starting any lessons. The typing test is taken anytime before the end of September
There are a couple of options for students just getting started with typing before the next typing test in November. They can do one or the other or both. It is up to you. Complete lessons based on their pretest fluency with at least 95% accuracy.
Option 1
Student typing at 19 wpm or under, have them do Typing Basics Lessons 1-42
Student typing at 20 - 25 wpm, have them do More Typing Lessons lessons 1-18
Student typing higher than 22 wpm are not required to do any lessons, but can do advanced lessons
Option 2
Typing Jungle is the newest set of lessons that include games and videos that might be slightly more engaging, however it does take longer to get through all the basic skills. Students can use these lessons in place of the other lessons or along with them.
The 5th Grade November Typing Test is taken any time in November once they have completed the lessons
The 5th Grade Spring Typing Test can be taken any time from the begging of February to Spring Break in March
5th Grade May Typing Test is the last typing test will be given in May for a data point for the end of the school year
Students can do more lessons if they want and Typing Club can be accessed from home using cfschools.typingclub.com.
