At Hopper, we have several interventions and programs to assist students needing extra support and guidance in order to be successful. The AAS office oversees five of those mentoring/intervention programs:
- Student Success Initiative (SSI): The AAS office identifies all students who were not successful on STAAR and in need of academic interventions. All academic interventions are tracked and documented throughout the school year by the AAS office.
- Targeted Tutorial Interventions: The purpose of Targeted Tutorials is to identify and strengthen students on specific skills of weakness that have been identified through data. Targeted tutorials are data driven and specific to deficit skills. Targeted tutorials are funded through Title I funding. As a result, you are required to use different tutoring forms and time sheets which are provided by Ms. Hurst/Ms. Smith.
- Husky Heroes Mentoring: Hopper staff members provide student(s) in need with a caring adult to encourage and assist our students to have a successful middle school experience here at Hopper. Husky Heroes are recommended by staff members.
- PALs Program: CySprings High School junior and senior students provide one on one mentoring with their PAL (a middle school student at Hopper) chosen by teachers or counselors for a wide variety of reasons.
- Soccer Start Program: Soccer Start provides Hopper students a vehicle to increase participants’ self-esteem, provide positive role models, and build social and life skills while also providing exercise, fun, and pride for our students.
