Larry Brown

Mr. Larry Brown brings thirty-one years of experience as a Texas band director to his position as Head Band Director at Cypress-Springs High School. Mr. Brown’s bands have been recognized for excellence in marching, concert, sight-reading, color guard, drum line and jazz ensemble. His bands have earned consistent superior ratings in UIL contests and invitational contests /festivals across the country and have been recognized with numerous “Sweepstakes” and “Best in Class” awards. Mr. Brown’s concert bands have been recognized on four occasions as a TMEA Region Honor Band and once as a TMEA Area Honor Band. Mr. Brown’s students have earned many individual honors including numerous Texas All-State band & orchestra selections and Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest outstanding soloist medals. Mr. Brown has been an active band and color guard clinician and adjudicator as well as serving as a freelance drill writer, auxiliary choreographer, and marching technician. Mr. Brown earned his B.M.E. from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 1987 and has pursued graduate studies in music education at Texas A&M – Commerce. He has been married to his wife, Denise, for Thirty-four years, (they met in band in college) and they have two children – Will and Melodie. Mr. Brown enjoys hunting, fishing, playing golf and he is an avid sports fan and enjoys collecting sports memorabilia. Mr. Brown’s professional affiliations include the Texas Bandmaster Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Mr. Brown also serves as the TMEA Region 27 Jazz Coordinator and the CFISD Summer Jazz Band Camp Director.
