Dear Parents & Guardians,
A new Texas law (House Bill 1481) requires school districts to prohibit student use of all personal communication devices during the school day. Therefore, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is updating its personal communication device policy.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the use of all personal communication devices is prohibited during the school day. Devices must be turned off and stored in the student’s personal bag or backpack at all times during the school day.
CFISD has created a Personal Communication Devices Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to address some of the implications of this new policy. Please review the content of this FAQ with your student(s) prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.
Sincerely,
CFISD Student Services
Check out this story celebrating Cy Park's 10th anniversary. This article was featured on the CFISD website and was written by Cy Park students, Melanie Melchor and Sama Abudhhir.
Our Varsity Speech & Debate Tigers have been engaging in a book study of “The Coddling of the American Mind” by Greg Lukianoff & Jonathan Haidt. Every week, they explore how protecting kids from discomfort can unintentionally make them less resilient. Our Tigers connect these ideas to current events and the way society’s choices have shaped how young people respond to challenges and discourse. CFISD School Board Member Mrs. Julie Hinaman joined the conversation and provided thought provoking questions for our future leaders!
