Darynda Klein
Darynda Klein is an educator with 30 years of experience, with the last 16 of those years as a campus administrator. She began her career as a teacher in the Golden Triangle area of Texas. She taught first through fifth in Beaumont, Vidor, and Nederland ISD before moving to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. In CFISD she taught first and fourth grade. She became a reading specialist after completing Reading Recovery and dyslexia training. Her next role was that of a campus ELA instructional specialist at Hairgrove Elementary in CFISD. She then served as an assistant principal at Hairgrove for four years and the principal of Hairgrove for 10 years.
During her time as the principal at Hairgrove, the campus was recognized by Great Schools as one of the top 10 Title 1 schools achieving student success and chosen as one of six demonstration campuses for Texas Alliance of Black School Educators. Her final year as principal, the Title 1 campus earned an A rating from TEA. While in CFISD, she participated in Rice University's REEP program and earned her certification to be a principal mentor through NAESP.
She has spent the past two years as a middle school principal in Brazosport ISD, where she has helped the campus improve their subpopulations data on STAAR data in Meets and Masters.
Darynda is retiring at the end of this school year, but looks forward to still playing a role in education in various ways. She is also looking forward to spending time fishing and reading with her husband of 30 years in Galveston, and spending time as a LaLa to her six month old granddaughter.
