September 15th begins Hispanic Heritage Month. Read about Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the world's first Latina astronaut in space, in the book The Astronaut with a Song for the Stars. At the end of the book, Dr. Ochoa says, “Sometimes it can be daunting to think about going after a big goal, but if you break it down step by step, you’ll often find it’s a lot more doable.” What is your big goal? How can you break that goal into smaller steps to make it more manageable? Share about your goal and your steps to achieve it.
Discussion Questions:
1) What goals did Dr. Ochoa set for herself?
2) What difficulties did she experience along the way?
