Mrs. Schraeder's Message

CES 95 Families:

What a start we've had to the 2020-2021 school year! I am very much looking forward to providing our faculty and staff with the resources needed to ensure our students' social and emotional health and growth is a top priority this fall. One of the ways I will be identifying those resources are through the Panorama Distance Learning Survey that will be released in early September. I am also continuously exploring innovative ways to support our students receiving educational resources via IEPs and 504s as they navigate the remote learning environment. The pupil services department is actively developing and refining plans to keep the positive momentum we are gaining with our students!

In early September, students will begin receiving Second Step lessons from their teachers within their Google Classrooms each week. Families also have access to free social and emotional tools at secondstep.org/covi19support. Families can create a free Second Step account at secondstep.org/covid19support. After creating an account, families with students in grades PK -5 should enter the correct activation key for your student's grade level. The activation codes are linked here. CMS parents can access Hot Chocolate Talk and Parent Teen Connect to explore ways to support their children. Finally, we have created a list of other resources families can use to support their children socially and emotionally at home to help ease some of the anxiety that may exist as we experience an unprecedented school year. That list of resources is linked here.

We continue to be flexible and make adjustments during these extraordinary times. I am eager to support our students during this time of new learning experiences! Please feel free to contact me if the need arises.

Best regards,

Latasha M. Schraeder
