The Security Council (SC) is responsible for maintaining international peace and security. It is made up of 15 members, with each country having one vote. When a conflict or threat to peace occurs, the Council works to understand the situation and encourages the countries involved to solve their disagreements peacefully. In this committee, delegates will discuss the Regulation of Autonomous Weapons Systems and AI-Enabled Drones in Armed Conflict, considering how these technologies should be controlled during conflicts. Another topic will be the Civil War in Sudan and its implications for regional and international peace and security, including the effects that the conflict can have beyond Sudan. The Security Council can recommend ways to resolve disputes, impose sanctions, and, in some situations, authorize the use of force to restore peace. Taking part in this committee gives delegates the chance to discuss serious international conflicts, consider different countries’ positions, and work toward solutions that can help protect international peace and security.

Adopted in 2000 and supported by the UNODC (UN Office on Drugs and Crime), the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) facilitates global cooperation to dismantle criminal networks through advisory and legal support, while strictly respecting state sovereignty and lacking the power to enforce sanctions or military action. The committee's topics for this MUN are these: the illegal trade of stolen art, which syndicates use to launder money and fund terrorism through physical and digital black markets, and the escalating crisis of cybercrime, which demands unified international strategies to protect individuals and institutions from sophisticated digital threats.
