Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to 5th grade! I am so excited to begin a wonderful new school year with your children. It is truly a privilege to be their teacher, and I look forward to getting to know each of my students and helping them grow throughout the year.
In our classroom, I want every child to feel safe, valued, respected, and important. Kindness is at the heart of our classroom community. I believe that when we treat one another with kindness, patience, and respect, we create an environment where everyone feels comfortable taking risks, asking questions, learning from mistakes, and becoming the very best version of themselves.
As your child's teacher, I want you to know that I will care for your children, encourage them, support them, and celebrate their successes along the way. I will do my best each day to make sure they know that they are capable, that their voice matters, and that they have someone cheering them on.
I will be teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies, and I am looking forward to making this a year filled with learning, discovery, growth, and plenty of wonderful memories. Fifth grade is such an exciting time, and I can't wait to see the confidence and independence your children develop throughout the year.
Thank you for trusting me with your children. I truly believe that the best school years happen when teachers and families work together, and I look forward to building that partnership with you.
Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, kindness, growth, and making each child feel special!
Warmly,
Mrs. Latshaw
