The Navajo Nation School Safety and Mental Health Wellness Task Force was created to improve communication between school districts, health entities, law enforcement, first responders and public officials within and near the Navajo Nation. Safety concerns have become increasingly prevalent across the country and in our own community, making it crucial to establish a secure environment for students, staff, families, and community members.
Collaboration is key to achieving this goal, enabling us to respond effectively to safety concerns by establishing clear communication between our schools, health entities, law enforcement and other first responders. The task force will also focus on mental health wellness issues contributing to active shooter situations, identifying laws, procedures, and resources to assist schools and health entities in responding to emergencies. Working together, we can create safer and more secure schools and health entities for everyone involved.
The Navajo Nation, neighboring schools, health entities, first responders, and public officials are taking proactive measures to ensure student safety and mental health wellness through the Navajo Nation School Safety and Mental Health and Wellness Summit. Please see the Workplan Categories that will be discussed at the summit.
