Line Monsters

Students learned about different types of lines including zig-zag, loopy, dotted, dashed and wavy. Our lesson included a science project that showed how oil and water won't mix, and that crayons and watercolor will resist each other. The read along for this project was "Lines that Wiggle" by Candace Whitman.

Fall Trees with Warm Colors

Students used the color wheel to identify red, yellow and orange as warm colors. We used crayons to draw and color the trunk of the tree and grass, and used Q-Tips to paint the leaves.

Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skulls

Students learned about the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos. Celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, this holiday isn’t like Halloween even though skeletons and sugar skulls are an important part of the celebrations. Dia de los Muertos is a happy holiday to honor the lives of loved ones who have passed away.

Paper Plate Pumpkin Pies

Students watched the read along "Dino-Thanksgiving". We compared how the dinos from the story and how our families celebrate Thanksgiving. Kwik Stix were used to paint our pie orange, and a cotton ball was used for the whipped cream. We practiced cutting out squares for the crust and using liquid glue.
