INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Some students can benefit from one-on-one short-term counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. Although we may draw from therapeutic strategies in our teachings and activities with students, these sessions are NOT the equivalent to therapy. The purpose of our individual counseling sessions is to equip students with the necessary tools and skills to help them overcome the problem or concern at hand. This is our most intensive counseling service, and as such, is reserved for students who's high level of need is best met through a one-on-one setting. School sites must first schedule a Student Study Team (SST) meeting along with the parent/guardian, school administrator, counselor, and any other necessary school staff to discuss the appropriateness of individual counseling for the student.
