Walnut Class Blog

Dear Parents/Carers,

It's been a busy and productive term in Walnut class. The children have been fully engaged in their learning, and it's a joy to see their curiosity and enthusiasm in action.

English

Walnut class has been delving into an exciting and adventurous topic: survival in the jungle! The children have amazed me with their creativity as they've crafted amazing guides on how to survive if anyone ever finds themselves stranded in the jungle. From building shelters to identifying edible plants, their writing has truly been impressive.

Maths

We have been hard at work mastering long multiplication and division, as well as the concept of comparing and ordering fractions. We have learnt how to multiply and divide up to 4 digit numbers, as well as how to divide with remainders, and our current focus is on converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, and ordering fractions greater than 1.

Computing

Our focus has been on connecting and programming crumble boards. Walnut class have been learning the fundamentals of coding and electronics through hands-on projects with these boards. It's been wonderful to see them problem-solve and experiment with different commands to make their projects come to life.

Attendance at Central

ClassDojos

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 91.5%.

I look forward to this percentage being higher the first week back and to see all children in school regularly and on time. I am looking forward to our attendance percentage growing  over the next weeks.

Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.

If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please use this link as guidance from the NHS regarding sickness and attendance. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery (please click the top link when redirected)

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes!

1st place - Acorn Class

2nd place - Beech Class

3rd place - Oak Class
