Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back.
As I’m sure you are aware, we have had a very busy return to school, including our long-awaited visit from Ofsted on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. While we are not able to share the outcome at this stage, we are very pleased with the result and incredibly proud of our whole school community. Our children spoke to inspectors with confidence, shared their learning enthusiastically, behaved beautifully and expressed great pride in the diversity of our school, with one child commenting that school feels like their second home. That is exactly how we feel about our Central family.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff, who not only showcased all that we do so brilliantly over those two days, but who work tirelessly every single day with unwavering commitment to securing the very best for our children. Thank you also to our parents for your kind and supportive comments, both through the surveys and in person. Your encouragement means a great deal to us all. We will of course let you know when the report is released.
We have an exciting period ahead of us this half term, with a wide range of activities planned across all year groups. Over the coming weeks, children will be taking part in events including our Travelling Book Fair and World Book Day celebrations, class assemblies for Pine, Mulberry and Maple classes, and a number of workshops such as our Antiracism workshop for Y3-6, Powerful Choices workshop for Y5-6, and sessions with Electric Umbrella for Y4.
There are also several educational visits planned, including trips to the RAF Museum for Year 6, the Science Museum for Year 4, the British Museum for Year 3, a garden centre visit for Year 1, and Ark Farm are visiting our Nursery and Reception. Alongside this, pupils will be representing the school in a range of sporting events this half term.
We will also be welcoming parents into school for PSC evenings for Years 1 and 2, and hosting a SEND coffee morning.
With so much happening, we strongly encourage you to regularly check the school calendar to keep up to date with key dates and any changes. You can view all upcoming events here on our website.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to sharing these valuable experiences with the children.
Kind regards
Mrs S. Wright

Last half term in PSHCE, Year 1 discovered their strengths, set simple and achievable goals, and thought about the steps needed to reach them. They talked about how it feels to try something new and built resilience by learning that challenges and mistakes help us grow. Through partner work and class discussions, they practised using kind words, supporting one another, and celebrating each other’s achievements.
We are incredibly proud of how the children embraced challenges, showed perseverance, and took pride in their successes. Well done, Year 1!
Year 2 began the year by exploring what bullying is and how it can make people feel. The children worked in pairs to discuss different scenarios and decide whether they showed bullying behaviour. This helped them to understand how to look after themselves and how to support their friends if they need help. We also learned why it is important to treat everyone equally and to value and celebrate our differences.
As part of our Dreams and Goals unit, the children designed their own magical, oversized birds to place in our “Garden of Dreams,” representing their hopes and aspirations for the future.
Last half term in PSHCE, Year 3 set personal targets for the year, thinking about how they can improve step by step, both in their learning and in their personal development. We also explored future aspirations and discussed the different careers we might like to pursue. As part of our inclusion learning, the children designed gardens that were welcoming and accessible for everyone, including people with additional needs. They showed great creativity and empathy, demonstrating that, with determination and support, all goals can be achieved.
Year 4 have been focusing on resilience and staying motivated when things feel challenging. They reflected on their own hopes, explored how to cope with disappointment, and learned how to keep a positive attitude. Through teamwork challenges, including creating their “Potato People,” the children planned, cooperated, and celebrated their shared successes. They showed great determination and perseverance throughout the unit.
Year 5 have been exploring their dreams and goals for the future. The children discussed the careers they might like to have when they are older and thought carefully about the skills, qualifications, and personal qualities needed for different jobs. We also explored how salaries can vary between careers and what this might mean for lifestyle choices. The children then reflected on their own goals and identified practical steps they can take now, such as working hard, developing resilience, and building key skills, to help them achieve their ambitions in the future.
Year 6 have looked at dreams and goals for the world and developed their understanding of how certain people are affected by situations such as natural disasters and war. We then moved on to consider our own dreams for the world, suggesting issues that we would want to help change. Finally, we explored how we could support different charities to help achieve our dream of a better world.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.12%.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
