Year 3 Ash have been busy and enthusiastic learners, exploring lots of exciting topics across the curriculum.
English
In English, we have been reading The Twits by Roald Dahl and using it as inspiration to write our very own versions of the story. We created new characters with strange habits, thought carefully about their personalities and planned mischievous tricks. The children focused on using descriptive language, powerful adjectives, and interesting sentence openers to bring their characters to life. Their creativity has been fantastic.
Geography
Our Geography lessons have taken us deep inside the Earth as we explored volcanoes. We learned how volcanoes are formed, the different parts of a volcano and the different types such as shield and composite volcanoes. The children enjoyed discovering where volcanoes are found around the world and why some areas are more volcanic than others.
Art
In Art, we have been planning our own volcanic sculptures. The children sketched designs, chose materials, and discussed how to create realistic textures and shapes. Soon, we will begin constructing our volcano models, and we are very excited to see them come to life!
Science
In Science, we have been learning about the three main types of rock: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. We examined real rock samples and used their properties such as hardness, texture and appearance to help identify them. The children have been developing their observation and investigation skills brilliantly.
Music
In Music, we have been exploring Calypso music. We listened to examples, learned about the rhythm and style and practised singing our own Calypso songs. The class has enjoyed keeping a steady beat and performing together.
RE
In Religious Education, we have been learning about Islam and the pilgrimage of Hajj. We discussed why Hajj is important for Muslims and what happens during the pilgrimage. We also reflected on special journeys we have taken in our own lives and the dedication needed to complete important journeys.
PE
In PE, we have been developing our football skills, focusing on dribbling and passing. We have also been practising yoga, working on stretching, balancing, and controlling our breathing to improve strength and flexibility.
Well done, Year 3 Ash, for your hard work and enthusiasm – keep it up.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.14%.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
