Taitum Daniels  “Dragon Hook Bottle”

2” x 6”x9" Stoneware & Glaze, 2023

I was inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's dragons and how he exaggerated the size of the claws and scales.  I cut the flat shape then folded it around a flat base. My biggest challenge was keeping the hook intact.i made the mistake of holding the bottle to tightly and rubbed off the pressed-on texter. I really liked the spine color it looks vary similar to the  traditional  dragons it was inspired by.

I was inspired by the leaves of Pandora James Gunn's avatar because of their size and thickness. I wanted to blend black and green  in order to make a more alien look and I think think it worked well

I was trying to learn to make overhangs on the wheel and the end product looked like an Uzumaki or flat swirl so I glazed it to look like the whirlpool  under the Uzumaki brdige in Japan
