Tyler Morgan, High School Band Director

Mr. Morgan is in his tenth year of teaching at Centerville. Prior to teaching at Centerville, he taught K-8 Music for one year at Wayne Community Schools (Corydon, IA).

Tyler is a native of Centerville. He received his Bachelor's of Arts in Instrumental Music Education from Central College in Pella, Iowa in 2013. His professional memberships include the Iowa Bandmasters Association, the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association, the National Band Association, the National Education Association, and the Iowa State Education Association. Since 2012, Morgan has been the director of the Centerville Municipal Band. He also adjudicates for various elementary and middle school solo and ensemble events in neighboring communities.

Tyler currently resides in Centerville where he is involved with several civic organizations including the Appanoose Co. Historical Society, Appanoose Co. Genealogical Society, and Pancake Day Committee. In his free time, Tyler enjoys woodworking, genealogy, and the occasional video game. In 2019, he published his first book, The History of Bands of Centerville, Iowa.

Daniel Vanderlinden, 5-8 Band Director

Mr. Vanderlinden is currently in his seventeenth year of teaching, and his ninth year in Centerville. He instructs the 6th grade band, 7th & 8th grade band, the Howar Middle School jazz band, and co-directs the 5th grade band at Lakeview Elementary. Prior to teaching at Centerville, Daniel taught at Albia Community High School as the 9-12 Band Director (2 years). He has also served as the PK-12 Vocal and 5-12 Band Director at Moulton-Udell Community Schools (5 years), as well as the 5-12 Band Director at Seymour Community Schools (1 1/2 years).

A native of Moulton, IA, Daniel, graduated from Buena Vista University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Education, and holds endorsements in K-8 and 5-12 Music. His professional memberships include the Iowa Bandmasters Association and the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association. 

Since 2010, Daniel has served as an adjudicator and guest conductor for various elementary and middle school events.

Daniel currently lives in Centerville with his wife, Julie, who is a special education teacher at Howar Middle School, and they have two daughters, Olivia and Emersyn.  They have a family dog named Wriglee. Daniel is an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and enjoys woodworking, and playing guitar.
