Piece Explanation

This piece represents the beauty and rarity of seeing a snow owl in broad daylight. I have seen a snow owl in the daylight on my backyard fence twice. This was astonishing. I never seen an owl up close, and they rarely appear to the human eye. I find art and symbolism when I look at nature, I saw these experiences as a life lesson that being different is good.

Art Style

For this piece, I wanted the owl to have texture to give the wings more depth and to pop of the page. I wanted this piece to look realistic, but I also wanted to add my own style to the piece. I really like experimenting with making my own patterns for my pieces. I made the wood texture for the fence, which reflects my personal pattern style. I'm proud of the results.
