This piece represents the isolation I felt (last October) after having knee surgery (due to my EDS). I am the one in the window and I can't get to the door, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I love handing out candy to the kids and decorating my home. I couldn't do that last year because I was using a walker to get around and could not stand for long amounts of time. This lead me to feel very left out.
I decided to go with a Silhouette style for the piece. Silhouettes can convey emotion even without faces or any defining features. Silhouettes also make me think of Halloween because they are a popular style for decorations. I decided to add a colorful sunset to show a realistic style, revealing different foreground and background.
