Meet the Teacher
Hi! I am Debbie Cox and I am the preschool teacher here at Rose Hamilton Elementary. I will begin my 30th year of employment and my 19th year of preschool with Centerville Schools in the fall of 2020.
I know we are starting a new year in a world that is changing. I know it has been a stressful 6 months for everyone. I am excited to be back in the classroom and bringing that joy that teaching gives me and experiencing the joy of preschoolers as they learn and grow. It is an honor to be a child's teacher!! I have experienced so many wonderful moments in preschool. It's a place where friendships are born, discoveries are made, and learning new things happens daily. And this new year brings an anticipation for all the good and wonderful things to come.
I have been married to Doug Cox for 39 years. I have two adult children. My daughter MacKenzie teaches high school math at Lincoln High School and my son Cooper is a writer. My family also includes my wonderful Boston Terrier, Chevy.
I love teaching preschool! I can't imagine having any other job. Preschool aged children are little learning sponges and it is a wonderful experience to be their teacher. I believe that preschool is the foundation to a great education.
I love reading and writing. I enjoy poetry, good books and good music (mostly 70's music) I am a big NASCAR fan! And I got to meet Dale Jr. last year so I checked that off the bucket list. Family and friends are very important to me. I like to play card games and old school board games. And someday I dream of writing books and to travel more. I love Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. I have Sharpie marker and dark chocolate addictions. I also have a serious need for Milkhouse diet vanilla cokes!
Everyday is a great day in preschool!
