Meet the Teacher!

The Basics

Hi! My name is Shelby Booth and this is my fourth year at Centerburg Middle School. I have always loved to read (especially inspirational and romantic novels) and free write. My love for reading and writing as well as my desire to encourage and inspire others led me to my choice in teaching English Language Arts. I am committed to being the best teacher I can be so that way students can be successful the best they can be. I am excited for another year!

My Childhood

I grew up in Canal Fulton, Ohio where I attended Northwest Schools. I have two loving parents who have always believed in me and encouraged to pursue my dreams. I would not be where I am today without their support. I have two brothers, both whom I adore and consider my best friends.

My Education

I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with an Integrated Language Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. During my time at MVNU, I was able to accumulate over 150 hours of observations in a variety of classrooms. I observed in a 6th grade classroom at Newark Elementary, an 8th grade classroom at Mount Gilead Middle School, a 10th grade classroom at Centerburg High School, and a Standard IV and V (6th and 7th grade) at Vicotrious Nazarene School. My most favorite thing to share about my time at MVNU was that I was able to go to Belize (a country in Central America) to observe, teach, and experience an entirely different culture than my own. I even split my student teaching practice, half at Centerburg High School and half at Victorious Nazarene School, and it was an experience of a lifetime!
