CECA 2020 Tech Expo

21st Annual Technology Exposition

Teachers and students will showcase standards-based technology projects created by students. Up to thirty schools will be selected to display their projects and discuss their work with Connecticut legislators at the annual Exhibition.

Eligibility:

Any public or private school educator in Connecticut, grades K-16, may submit an application to exhibit a technology project at the CECA Tech Expo. Projects considered for the Tech Expo must show that rich content infused with technology and learning experience within the classroom. The project must address at least one of the ISTE Standards for Students.

This year CECA is welcoming projects from students enrolled in teacher preparation programs at our public and private colleges or universities in Connecticut. Projects shown by students at this level will provide a look at how Connecticut's future teachers are being prepared to integrate technology into their classrooms.

Application Deadline:

The application must be submitted no later than February 15th, 2020. See information for online application below.


Notification of Participation:

All applicants will be notified in early March regarding the status of their application acceptance.


ISTE Standards for Students:

Projects to be displayed must address one or more of the ISTE Standards for Students. https://www.iste.org/standards/for-students#startstandards

Attendance at The CECA Tech Expo:


  • Up to 33 schools will be selected.
  • Up to 2 teachers and 4 students may represent the school.
  • Transportation is the responsibility of the school.
  • Schools must provide their own computer equipment.
  • Wireless Internet Access is available.
  • Tables, easels, chairs and electrical hookups will be provided.
  • There are three demonstration periods:

9:00 - 10:15 AM, 10:30 - 11:45 AM, and 12:00 - 1:15 PM


Application Process

Application Deadline: February 15th, 2020 All applications for the CECA Tech Expo must be submitted online. Please prepare the following information before attempting to complete the online application.

To complete the application, you will need:

  1. Contact Name - email and phone
  2. School Information
    1. Names of School and School District
    2. Names of principal and Superintendent
  3. Project Details
    1. Title of Project
    2. Grade Levels
    3. Description to appear in the program (less than 150 words)
    4. Description of how the project addresses specific ISTE Standards for Students (less than 150 words)
  4. Attendee Information
    1. Name(s) of teacher(s) accompanying students (maximum 2)
    2. Number of students to attend (maximum 4)
  5. Time choices - Please indicated 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices
    1. 9:00-10:15
    2. 10:30 - 11:45
    3. 12:00 - 1:15


Recommendations for Preparing the Application:

  • Please check with your administrator for permission to attend prior to completing the online application.
  • The online application MUST be completed in one sitting - it cannot be saved and/or continued at a later time.
  • Keep the narratives simple, unformatted and to the point.
  • Descriptions of the project and standards may be prepared in another app and copied and pasted into the application. Don’t attempt to format the text. Descriptions will be formatted appropriately for the program, if selected.
