Weekly Gratitude Challenge

We invite you to join us in our weekly "Gratitude Challenge." This week is to think about the first 3 things you will do once the "Stay Home Order" is over.

Week 4: Fulfillment

Three things that give us a sense of fulfillment

Mrs. Gillis- 1) working with the students and staff at LCHS 2) learning new things 3) being a mom

Mrs. Chacon- 1) Being a school counselor! Love working with students, they fill my cup 2) Sharing happiness and being kind to others, including family, friends, and strangers. 3) Inner peace and being content with life. Self-fulfillment.

Mrs. Granier- 1) snuggles from my kids 2) random acts of kindness 3) achieving something that I was intimidated to start for the fear of failure

Ms. Gabby- 1) My FaceTime sessions with Owen Owen Owen! Plus ANY picture and video that mom and dad send me! 2) Seeing the flowers that I planted in the fall blooming! 3) The altruistic nature of humanity, especially those small acts of kindness and compassion that have such a profound impact on others!

Week 3: Growth

The first 3 things your counselors will do when we the "Stay Home Order" ends

Ms. Gabby- 1) I will get in my car, drive over Snoqualmie Pass, get on the ferry in Seattle and go snuggle OWEN OWEN OWEN! 2) I will go to Flathead Lake in Montana and stay with my dear friend, Margey! 3) I will go to Farmer's Markets!

Mrs. Duchow- 1) Get a massage 2) get my hair done (my DIY job is a bit rough ) 3) go to yoga - EVERYDAY

Mrs. Chacon- 1) Have a bbq with family and friends! 2) Get my nails done. Yup, I can't wait. lol 3)Have a date night out with my husband at a local restaurant. :)

Mrs. Granier- 1)Go out to dinner with family 2) Have friends over 3)Go shopping for non essential things!!

Mrs. Gillis - 1) going camping with my family and friends 2) take my kids to ALL the CDA playgrounds 3) go out to dinner and a movie with the hubs

Week 2: Appreciation

3 Things your counselors took for granted:

Mrs. Granier - visiting her grandma, traveling, essential workers

Ms. Gabby- 1) Getting in my car, driving over Snoqualmie Pass in all kinds of weather, navigating straight to the ferry line once I got to Seattle so that I could go snuggle and love on my OwenOwenOwen 2) The US Postal Service 3) Popping out of the Counseling Center to go talk to students, teachers, and staff IN PERSON!!!

Mrs. Chacon- 1. Family gatherings. Inviting my sister over for dinner, seeing my baby nephew, and even going out to dinner with my husband. Having the ability to do all of that. 2. Answering student emails vs. talking to students in person. One-on-one interactions are so much more meaningful. I took for granted these interactions. 3. My office space at Lake City. Working from home is harder that it sounds. Having everything I need in one location and TWO computer monitors. I took that for granted for sure!

Mrs. Duchow- What I have discovered throughout this journey is that what I appreciate the most (the things that matter the most to me) are also the things I have taken the most for granted:

LIFE - and I mean truly LIVING my life w/ intention, slowing down, being IN THE MOMENT and not rushing to the next event. What I am seeing, hearing, feeling, witnessing and experiencing now is truly the gift of a lifetime and I am grateful every day for the gift of life, for the gift of breathing, for the gift of connecting and for the gift of experiencing the FLOW of life!

SIMPLE THINGS - seeing certain things/people everyday (LIKE ALL OF YOU ), hearing familiar voices and the constant sounds of laughter all around me, watching and hearing amateur, college and professional sporting events, going to the movies, getting my hair done, a massage, sitting down and enjoying the ambiance of my favorite restaurant, interacting with others on a daily basis and feeling the energy of a room . . so many more things to list and so many daily opportunities that I took for granted and I vow to NEVER overlook the simple things in life again, to never overlook the opportunity to engage, connect and share!

CONNECTION - to everyone and everything, EVERY DAY. Connection which provides the opportunity to share our stories with one another, our journey with life, our quirks, our mishapps, our struggles, our accolades. It is the daily interactions that allows me to connect and be APART of life, my tribe and my community!

Mrs. Gillis- easy access to essential items, interaction with people, daily routines

Week 1: Gratitude

3 Things/People Your Counselors are Grateful For:

Mrs. Duchow- 1)I am beyond grateful for the health and wellness of my family - I adore them beyond measure. 2)I am so thankful to see and feel the sunshine, to hear the birds singing, to see bees, butterflies and fly's (strange but true), to witness trees and flowers begin to bloom, to open the window and feel an smell the fresh air - it all symbolizes that life continues its magical beauty and journey and that things around us continue to grow, bloom and prosper and it is magically inspiring. 3)I am so thankful for my home away from home at Lake City High School because I adore my work family, the students, their families, the energetic noises that symbolize life inside Lake City High School - it is inspiring and captivating and I am so thankful for when we can return and see each other again - DAILY

Mrs. Gillis- 1) I am grateful for my amazing family. They are seriously my rock! 2) I'm grateful for all of the people in this community who are working so hard to support and care for all of us during this time. 3) Lastly, I am grateful for this wonderful weather we have been having. I love being able to get outside and breathe in the fresh air and soak up the sun!

Mrs. Chacon- 1) I'm grateful for my family! Our family virtual movie nights are my favorite. 2) I'm thankful for coffee! The little things that make you happy are important too. 3) I'm grateful for my dogs! They keep me company and entertained.

Mrs. Granier- 1)My health and my families health. 2) My Counseling team- what would I do without my squad!! 3) Sunshine!

Ms. Gabby- 1) FaceTime with OwenOwenOwen 2) My family is healthy 3) Essential workers -- healthcare, first responders, grocery store employees, school classified staff)

Mrs. Lee- 1)Time at home with my family- My daughter is learning how to walk and talk and it is so much fun to be at home seeing her learning and growing every day. 2)Cooking/Baking- Cooking is a calming activity for me and I have enjoyed trying out some new recipes! 3) Time to slow down- Between graduate school, internship at the schools, and being a mom I am busy! It has been so nice to be able to slow down and just be (and not feel guilty for doing it). I am grateful for the time to relax and do things that I haven't had time for lately like reading a book.
