Q: What is the difference between a dual/tri meet and an invitational meet?
A: A dual/tri meet is a track meet where we compete against one or two other local high schools. These meets are open for everyone to participate in and all athletes are expected to either compete or help run events. Athletes cannot qualify for the State Track and Field Meet at these events.
An invitational meet is where athletes are "invited" to participate. Normally, invitationals are held on the weekends, with a few exceptions. Those athletes who attend are considered Varsity and are expected to complete. Invitationals are where athletes can qualify for the State Track Meet by time and distance.
Q: How can I access up-to-date information regarding meet information?
A: The best way to stay up-to-date is to check the calendar posted on the Home Page of the GC Track and Field website. Meet information, bus information, and important dates will all be posted on that calendar.
