Contest Rules:
Families will provide their own pumpkin (no more than 20 lbs.).
Pumpkins must be decorated to represent a character from a book.
Pumpkins CANNOT be cut into. Please decorate using paint, glue,fabric, etc.
Finished pumpkins need to be delivered to Kilmer before or after school October 11th or 12th.
Please leave them on the cart in the vestibule and we will get them to the LMC.
October 14th students will vote online.
Categories will include:
Which pumpkin do you think represents the book/character the best?
Which pumpkin do you think shows the most creativity?
Which pumpkin would you like to take home?
Winners will be announced Friday afternoon - October 14th.
All pumpkins will be on display at Fall Fest.
Pumpkins can be taken home from Fall Fest. Any still at Kilmer will remain in the LMC until after school October 31st.
Any pumpkins still at Kilmer at the end of the day, October 31st, will be disposed of.
The Illinois Bluestem Award is designed for students in grades 3-5 who are ready for chapter books. The award is named in honor of Big Bluestem which is the state prairie grass. The award may include both timeless classics and current titles.
Students who read at least 4 of the nominated books will be invited to vote for the book they think should win the award for 2020. Voting will take place the end of February.

If you'd like to participate in the Bluestem voting and contest, you must read at least 4 of the nominated books. Click on the link to the book you have read and take the quiz. If you get 7/10 or better, it will count as a read book.
