Our Classroom Philosophy
It's very simple: Learn a lot, and have fun while doing it!
I am a firm believer that having fun at school is one of the most important jobs we have as educators. I am passionate about learning and I want my students to feel the same!
About me
This is my second year at Stone and I love it here as much as the students! I have lived in Cookeville almost a year and a half so my daily commute goes to show how much I love my job.
Before moving to the Upper Cumberland, I spent about 14 years living in the beautiful (and hot) state of Florida. I graduated from Clearwater High School (GO TORNADOES!) and continued my education at St. Petersburg College, eventually obtaining an Associates in Arts Degree as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education K-6.
Teaching is my passion, but when I’m not at Stone, I’m usually at home drawing, reading, or singing with my husband at the top of our lungs while making dinner!
I set high expectations for every student in my class because I KNOW that every child can succeed, no matter how minor the success. I expect my students to be the very best at Stone. Every day. In every way.
5th grade can be tough for some, so establishing a loving and safe environment in my classroom is incredibly important. No child should leave my classroom feeling like an outcast. We are a family!
