Making IT Happen
Members of the Technology Team
Maria Weiss - Network Engineer
Hi, I'm Maria Weiss, Network Engineer for Culpeper County Public Schools. My ultimate responsibility is to ensure that everyone in our division is equipped with the technology resources they need to be successful -- be it as a teacher, student or staff member -- and of course to make certain that it works!
I started with the division in July 2002. Prior to working at CCPS, I worked for seven years in Washington DC specializing in network administration in large international law firms. When I first started at CCPS, our department at the time consisted of 2 techs, myself and the Director of Technology. Everyone used desktops computers, there was no wireless in our buildings and the division had just purchased their first mobile lab. CCPS has grown and changed much over the years -- and so has this department and our responsibilities....I can honestly say that I love every moment of my job and no two days are ever the same.
I have been married to my husband Kelly since 1999 and have two amazing daughters, Hailey (15) and Caitlin (12). Our other family members include our two black pugs and five cats :) If you drive along Madison Road near the hospital -- you probably will see me walking my pugs -- feel free to wave!

Before becoming a network tech, I was a DOD contractor at the Pentagon and a Harley Davidson mechanic before that. If I had to pick a specialty, it would be hardware. Whether it is replacing, repairing, or building computers that is what I enjoy the most. Even soldering small electronics is something that I enjoy as well. I obtained my Information Systems degree from Germanna Community College in 2015 and helping people resolve technology issues is something that brings me great satisfaction.
